Biography
She completed her pre-university education in Isparta. She graduated from the Department of Business Administration (METU) in January 1994. She received her master's degree in Public Finance(S.D.U.) in 2004 and her Ph.D. in Business Administration (S.D.U.) in 2009.

Ph.D. Title: The macroeconomic variables and exchange rate causality: A forecast modelling with artificial neural network (ANN) and VAR approach
Between 1994-1995, she worked as a financial analysis assistant in the finance department at Isparta ORMA Forest Products Industry. After completing her trainee program in credit marketing and banking between November 1995 and March 1996, she worked as a credit marketer and analyst at Teksitilbank Eminönü (Doğubank) Branch and Tekstilbank Kızltoprak (Kadıköy) Branch Credit Marketing Department between 1996-1998, respectively. Between 1998 and 2003, she worked as a credit marketing specialist and financial analyst in the credit marketing department of Bankekspres Antalya Branch.
Between 2004-2007, he worked as a lecturer at S.D.U. Atabey Vocational School Accounting and Finance Department. Between 2007 and 2008, she worked as an expert in the European Union Projects Unit within the Strategy Development Department of Antalya Metropolitan Municipality. She was a lecturer at Akdeniz University Vocational School of Social Sciences, Accounting, and Finance Program between 2008-2010.
She has worked as an Associate Professor at the Department of Tourism Management at Akdeniz University since 2009. She teaches Finance Analysis and Investment Project Analysis at The Department of Tourism Management and Introduction to Economy at the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Her research interests are financial failure and financial risk, foreign exchange forecasting, the performance of tourism firms, and the relationship between the tourism industry and economic growth.
Helhel, who is married, is the mother of two daughters named Asiyenur and Zeynep Sema.
