Özet:

In recent years, globalization, technological development, and intense competition have forced business owners, entrepreneurs, managers, and all kind of workers to go on business trips. In today's world, accessing to transportation facilities with less cost and shorter time has increased the mobility of businesspeople. In this context, business travelers have become a critical market for accommodation companies, and getting a high profit share of business trips has become one of the main goals of the hotel industry. The ability of hotels to gain a higher share in the market depends on meeting the expectations of the target customers, namely, business travelers. One of the ways of providing an impeccable service that meets these expectations can be creating a hotel business environment which is similar to the main workplace of businesspeople. This study examines the factors affecting business travelers’ productivity and satisfaction regarding the similarity between hotel working environment and main workplace, in Berlin, the German capital. Two hundred and fifty business travelers stayed in a city hotel participated in the quantitative research by responding to the question items of the questionnaire. The findings of this study reveal that the satisfaction of business travellers during business trips is significantly influenced by the similarity of the hotel working environment to their main working environment. In the context of the business travelers' perception of similarity between hotel working conditions and the main workplace, different room types have different effects on business travellers. However, different room categories have no impact on the productivity of business travellers. Furthermore, the perception of similarity between the hotel and the main work environment is significantly influenced by the professional position of business travellers. Among the similar factors between two environments, cleanliness is the most influential factor in both productivity and satisfaction of business travelers. The study also shows that the productivity of business travellers leads to satisfaction.
