Hakan Öniz is the head of the Division of Mediterranean Underwater Cultural Heritage Researchs and also Department of
the Restoration and Conservation of Cultural Heritage in the Faculty of Art at the Akdeniz University. He is one of the establishers and first coordinator of UNESCO UniTwin Underwater Archaeology Network between 2012 and 2015. He is also director of Underwater Archaeology Research and Application Center at the Akdeniz University. The Underwater
Archaeology research and excavation projects in Turkish Mediterranean Coast, Secretary and bureau member of ICOMOS-ICUCH (International Committee of Underwater Cultural
Heritage), member of CMAS Scientific Committee, specialist member of ICOMOS Turkey – National Committee of Underwater Cultural Heritage, member of UNESCO National Observation Committee of Underwater Archaeology. Additionally he gives lectures on underwater archaeology and underwater photography as bachelor, M.A. and PhD level students at th several universities in Turkey and Europe.
