He completed his undergraduate degree in Classical Archaeology at Akdeniz University in 1999. During this time, he took part in excavations at Patara and Sagalassos. He completed his MA in Ancient Greek Language in 2002 and his PhD in the same subject in 2007, both at the Institute of Social Sciences, Department of Ancient Languages and Cultures, at the same university. Since 2009, he has been a faculty member in the Department of Ancient Languages and Cultures at Akdeniz University. He has conducted research as a visiting scholar at various universities and institutions, including in Washington, DC (2003), Oxford (2005–06), Paris (2006), Trier (2011), Istanbul (2013–14), Munich (2018, 2020), and Münster (2021). His research interests include Classical Greek epigraphy and the history and geography of Asia Minor, especially Lycia. He has worked on ancient roads and routes in Lycia and the distribution and status of Lycian settlements for many years. He was a scientific advisor to the Ankara Museum of Anatolian Civilisations for the Çayırhan Juliopolis rescue excavation (2013–15) and to the Fethiye Museum for the Dalaman/Şerefler–Asar Tepe rescue excavation (2022–24). Since 2024, he has headed the survey of the ancient city of Kadyanda in the Yeşilüzümlü neighbourhood of Fethiye.
