Prof. DAVUT KARAYEL

Akdeniz University professor Davut KARAYEL graduated from Çukurova University with a degree in Agricultural Engineering in 1995. He received both his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Agricultural Engineering from Akdeniz University, where he completed and defended his doctoral dissertation in 2005. He was awarded the title of Associate Professor in 2008 and promoted to Full Professor in 2014 at Akdeniz University. He currently serves as a Professor at Akdeniz University, Türkiye, and as a Chief Researcher at Vytautas Magnus University, Lithuania (remote appointment).

Prof. Davut KARAYEL is an Associate Editor of Computers and Electronics in Agriculture and he was member of the Editorial Board of Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry. He has authored more than 100 scientific publications in the field of Agricultural Engineering, including more than 40 articles indexed in the Web of Science or Scopus database with significant citation impact. He is also the author of three chapters published in international scientific books.

His research focuses on agricultural machinery and modern agricultural technologies, particularly the technological processes of sowing and crop care machinery, as well as the technological and environmental assessment of agricultural operations on soil and ecosystems. His recent research interests include statistical analysis, machine learning applications in agricultural engineering, data-driven modeling, predictive analytics, artificial intelligence applications for agricultural systems, optimization of agricultural processes, and sustainable agricultural technologies.
