Biography

 Ayşegül Durukan was born in 09.08.1973. She completed her undergraduate studies at Bilkent University at the Department of Archeology, Faculty of Humanities and Letters. Later on, she began her master’s degree at the Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, firstly by taking scientific preparation courses, at the Department of Interior Design. She completed her Ph.D. at the same program. From her university years up to the present, she continued her works actively on interior design, at private sector. She actualized installations of interiors of reputable projects, designs and applications of architectural finishing items on several International and National platforms. Predominantly, took part in big projects situated in Middle East and Turkic Republics. Apart from these, she continued her projects in Africa, United States and England. With the company she worked with (Creart- Creative Art Group), they have been prequalified with HOK, which is worldwide known. She had experience with the management of architectural design and application periods. Within this period, she worked with worldwide known design firms, suppliers, contractors and subcontractors, both in International and National platforms. From 2014 onwards, she is still in contact with private sector and continues her projects in academic life. Her researches were on housing at her master’s degree and on shopping malls on her Ph.D. She took part mainly in design and application of mosques, malls and cultural centers and places with cultural heritage characteristics at the private sector. Haydar Aliyev Cultural Center, Bakü (Zaha Hadid Architects / Dia Holding), Zorlu Shopping Center (Tabanlıoğlu Mimarlık, ZKLD), Restoration of Aziz Mahmud Hüdayi mosque and tomb are some of the projects that she took part in. Some of the other projects that she was involved are listed below. She started her academic Works at Yeni Yüzyıl University as a teaching assistant. At 2015, she was assigned to Nişantaşı University, Faculty of Art and Design, Department of Interior Design with the title of Associate Professor. At this institution she served as Head of Department of both Department of Interior Design English, and Turkish. In 2018, she was appointed to the post of the Head of Department of Interior Design, Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture at Düzce University. Since 2019, she continued her works as Assistant Prof. Dr. at Akdeniz University, Faculty of Architecture, at the Department of Interior Design. Entitled as Associate Professor Dr. in the same institution in 2021.
