Abstract

In this study, natural (Ra-226, Th-232, K-40) and artificial (Cs-137) radionuclide activity concentration levels of 63 greenhouse soils collected from Antalya city were determined by Gamma Spectroscopy technique using High Purity Germanium Detector. Soil analytical characteristics and total K, Ca, Mg and Na concentrations of greenhouse soils were also determined. Remarkable correlations were determined between the radioisotopes and the soil parameters. However, the dose amounts produced by the soil samples were well below the permissible levels determined by the IAEA, indicating greenhouse soils would not cause any radiological risk for the human being.
