9th International Congress on Patient and Healthcare Professional's Rights, Antalya, Turkey, 8 - 11 October 2017, pp.31, (Summary Text)
OBJECTİVE: Research; It is planned with the aim of shortening the time spent in defining and controlling emergency drugs in patients who are treated with multiple drugs and mucinous fusions in intensive care units.
METHODS: In the study, the duration of the drug applications for the patients who received at least three infusion treatments at the Akdeniz University Hospital Anesthesia and Reanimation Intensive Care Units were measured and the opinions of the nurses who applied the drugs were taken. The sample of the study consists of 25 nurses who work in intensive care units and who accept to participate in the research and apply the material prepared with the aim of defining medicines. Material prepared to identify drugs; The serum set is a colorful and remarkable apparatus that can be easily placed on the outside and made of plastic material on which the name of the medicine can be written. Approval was obtained from the Ethics Committee of the University of the Mediterranean for research. Before the material was used, the patient was sterilized by the ethylene oxide method in the sterilization unit and the use was presented. The duration of drug administration before and after placement of the material in the serum set during the administration of each nurse was measured by the investigator with a chronometer. In addition, the material evaluation form prepared by the researchers and the nurses' opinions regarding the convenience, appearance and time saving of the material during the application period were taken.
RESULTS: The application of a medication before placement of the material in the study average was 42.1 ± 15. 3 seconds, and the application time of a drug after placement of the material was determined as 6.6 ± 5.3 seconds and statistically significant (p <0.001). When the opinions of the nurses about the material are examined; It was determined that 95. 8% of the nurses shortened the drug application period, 83.3% said the material was suitable for use, and 83.8% stated that they could easily recognize the drug thanks to the material.
CONCLUSION: It can be said that the use of the developed material in order to shorten the duration of drug application in multiple infusions in the direction of the findings obtained from the research can be said to be appropriate.
