Özet

Ex vivo l ung p erfusion i s a m ethod p erformed f or improving functions of donor lungs which are in unusable condition. Criteria which were initially good in a 29-year-old donor deteriorated in time. Partial pressure of oxygen in arterial blood decreased from 310 mmHg to 230 mmHg. We decided to perform ex vivo lung perfusion before lung transplantation. Condition of lungs improved significantly with 210 minutes of ex vivo lung perfusion and partial oxygen pressure increased to 485 mmHg. Subsequently, we transplanted the lungs to a 56-year-old male receiver suffering from severe chronic obstructive lung disease.
