Abstract

We have reevaluated analytically the vacuum polarization in Coulomb field using relativisitc Coulomb wave functions by a new regularization method. The result is finite giving the standard result in the lowest order of iteration. The formalism of self-field quantumelectrodynamics used here needs neither field quantization, nor renormalization. There are no infrared or ultraviolet divergences.
