Özet

Modernization, as a concept, can be defined as the phase that begins with the Enlightenment. The system, which paves the way for the wisdom and foresees a new order in every field, has turned into a modernization process in other societies although it is a natural phase in the West. This phase, originated from the West, was replaced by the disregarding of tradition, especially during Turkish modernization. This has brought about a deep disruption of consciousness in society. Because modernism is dressed vertically to society by the state, the individual is mentally connected with the past, but is hasty to adapt to the new formally and he/she is in a crisis of identity and alienation.
