Abstract

This study deals with the mechanics of coastal sediment transport and more precisely the distribution of suspended sediment in large waves which is the important phenomenon in coastal engineering. Sections of this research are basically regarding the vertical distribution of suspended sediment waves and current over a plane bed. In this study, the main objective is to define how would be the distribution of sediment particles under the effect of the strong wave-induced motion which is pretty close to the bed. Specifically what would be the vertical distribution of the suspended sediments? Another objective was to check the results of the two citations and make a comment on them. Because of this purpose, numerical models were developed in Maple code in order to describe the flow and sediment transport in detail.
