The crystal structure of the title compound, C5H9N3 2+2Cl, is stabilized by N—HCl hydrogen bonds, forming a three dimensional network. Each chloride anion forms three hydrogen bonds with N atoms, and the hydrazine unit forms R21(5) motifs with one of the Cl anions. The aromatic ring is almost coplanar with both the N atoms of the hydrazine substituent and with one of the Cl anions.
