Abstract

In this study, the mean grain size of ceramic-metal composites, made from boron carbide (B4C-)-aluminium (Al)-nickel (Ni) powders, has been determined with ultrasonic velocity technique by using a 2 MHz transducer. An ultrasonic velocity-grain size master graph was plotted using a 4 MHz ultrasonic transducer. The results were compared to the mean grain size obtained from SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy) images. (c) 2005 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
