Abstract
ABSTRACT
The aims of this study were to examine the
frequency of impacted permanent teeth excluding
third molars and to perform the distributions according
to sex ad jaws. In current study, panoramic films of
2291 patients (1382 women, 909 men) with the age
range of 12-25 years were investigated. In 131
patients there were 163 impacted teeth detected. Of
these teeth, 110 were maxillary canines, 16 were
mandibular 2. premolar, 37 were the others. Of these
163 impacted teeth, 136 were detected in maxilla and
27 in mandibula. Of the patients, 4.67 % (n:107) had
one impacted tooth, 0.83 % (n:19) two impacted
teeth, and 0.22 % (n:5) three or more impacted
teeth. Of the impacted teeth that were detected
bilaterally, 28 were maxillary canines, 12 mandibular
second premolar teeth, 6 maxillary first premolar teeth
and 4 maxillary central incisors
