The objective of this study was to assess the effect of Thidiazuron (TDZ) alone or in combination with IAA on both the in vitro shoot multiplication-index and plantlet quality of the strawberry cultivar 'Camarosa'. We applied the following concentrations of TDZ alone (0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0 mg/L) or in combination with 1.0 mg/L IAA. In addition, we applied IAA at the following concentrations: 0.4, 0.8, 1.0, 1.2 mg/L together with 1.0 mg/L TDZ. In the rooting stage, different concentrations of activated charcoal (0, 2.5, 5.0 g/L) and IBA (0, 0.1, 0.4, 0.8, 1.0 mg/L) were tested. The results demonstrated that shoot proliferation was significantly affected by TDZ alone and in combination with IAA. Our recommendation for the optimal multiplication of 'Camarosa' is: MS medium supplemented with 1.5 mg/L TDZ and 1 mg/L IAA. Using this medium we obtained 28.46 shoots per explant. As a result of this study, it was determined that the increased concentrations of IBA decreased the root development. The highest root development ratio was found in media that contains activated charcoal.
