Abstract

High and low molecular weights of Chitosan (CH) and Poly(ethylene) oxide (PEO) were blended at ratio of 50/50% and electrospun to fabricate nanofibrous structures. Total concentration of the polymer in solutions were 3 wt.%. Solution properties were analyzed in terms of viscosity and conductivity. Diameter of fibers and morphology of the nanofibrous structure were investigated by SEM analysis. Viscosities of the blended solutions were influenced by the molecular weights of both polymers. Conductivity was mainly affected by the molecular weight of Chitosan. The diameter of the fibers was altered due to the changes in polymer molecular weights.
