Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the energy requirements of inputs and output of the main and double cropping sesame in Antalya province. The study was carried out in the main sesame production areas of the province of Antalya and the data were collected from 145 farmers by using face-to-face questionnaire method. In the study, energy values were calculated by multiplying the amount of inputs and outputs by the related energy conversion factors. The results indicated that total input energy use in main and double cropping sesame production was 10020.0 and 8432.5 MJ, respectively. The output energy of double cropping sesame production (12,000 MJ) was lower than for main cropping sesame production (17,875.0 MJ). The output-input ratio for main and double cropping sesame production was 1.8 and 1.4, respectively.
