Abstract

M x-ray production cross sections from 1 to 1500 keV were obtained for elements with 70 less than or equal to Z less than or equal to 92. Obtained values were tabulated and plotted against the atomic number and energy. In the calculation process, published sources were used. The radiative transition rates and photoionization cross sections of the elements were taken from the relativistic Hartree-Slater model of Scofield (At. Data Nucl. Data Tab. 14, 121 (1974), UCRL-51376 (1973)), the nonradiative transition rates were taken from the Dirac-Hartree-Slater model of Chen et al. (At. Data. Nucl. Data Tab. 24, 14(1979)) and average M shell fluorescence yield values were obtained from Hubbell et al. (J. Phys. Chem. Ref. Data 23, 339 (1994)). Copyright (C) 2004 John Wiley Sons, Ltd.
