Abstract

Ottoman State which was weaken in the 19th century, proclaimed "administrative reforms Firman" to be able to move European innovations to Turkish lands in 1839, allowed gymnastics to enter military and civilian schools. Gymnastics activities which foreign trainers were the initiator of them initially, caused Turkish students grow gymnastic teachers and spread gymnastics. One of these students is Selim Sirri Tarcan. Although Selim Sun Tarcan grew with German gymnastics, preferred Swedish gymnastics with the rise of theoretical and practical information, had great efforts on the development and spreading Swedish gymnastics.
