Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the level of consumer satisfaction with fresh fruit and vegetable retail stores in Turkey. The consumers' preferences for open markets, convenience stores, greengrocers and supermarkets/hypermarkets were explored. Data was obtained through the questionnaire administered in face-to-face interviews in Antalya, Turkey. A sample size of 300 was deemed appropriate at the 95% confidence level. Research results indicate that the satisfaction indexes for consumers were 81% for both supermarkets and hypermarkets, 83% for open markets, 72% for greengrocers and 64% for convenience stores. The most important criteria were product quality and proximity to the preferred retail store.
