© 2022Increasing greenhouse gas emissions due to an uncontrolled increase in fuel consumption has become a worldwide challenge during the last decades. Meanwhile, replacing green energy with traditional fuel energy is always a solution to this problem. However, the transition between these two energy resources is a little time-consuming because of changing the infrastructures. Nanotechnology provides promising solutions for different problems in different fields, including the fuel industry. Various studies show the improvement of the toxic and greenhouse emissions by adding nanoparticles into the pure fuel. The nanoparticles change the thermophysical properties of the pure flue. Subsequently, it changes the evaporation behavior of the sprayed droplet in the combustion chamber, leading to faster ignition and enhancing the burning rate. The present review focused on the effect of additive nanoparticles on the evaporation behavior of fuel droplets and its underlying mechanism. The impact of different parameters, including the nanoparticle type, concentration, size, the ambient temperature, on the evaporation characteristics is presented.
