Özet

This chapter on Interventional Biopsy and Nongynecological Cytopathology focuses on the diagnostic value, methodology, and clinical applications of cytological and histological sampling techniques performed under radiologic or endoscopic guidance. Interventional biopsies—such as fine-needle aspiration (FNA), core needle biopsy, and image-guided procedures (ultrasound, CT, or endoscopy)—play a crucial role in obtaining representative tissue for pathological evaluation. Nongynecological cytopathology encompasses a wide spectrum of specimens, including those from the respiratory tract, urinary tract, serous cavities, and body fluids, as well as fine-needle aspirates of various organs. This chapter emphasizes sample collection, fixation, and preparation techniques, together with cytomorphologic interpretation and ancillary tests such as immunocytochemistry and molecular diagnostics. Integration of cytological findings with clinical and imaging data ensures a minimally invasive, rapid, and accurate diagnostic approach, contributing significantly to patient management and personalized therapy.
