7'th International Congress on Adhesive Dentistry (IAD), Konya, Türkiye, 1 - 03 Haziran 2023, ss.120
The aim of this study was to evaluate the microtensile bond strength (µTBS) of an etch and rinse (EAR), a self-etch (SE)
and two universal adhesives (with or without acid etching) to enamel and dentin after treatment with Er,Cr:YSGG laser
irradiation.
Thirty-three caries-free human third molars were used in this study. The teeth were divided into two groups, 15 for enamel
and 18 for dentin. In the enamel groups, the mesial or distal surfaces of the teeth were roughened and irradiated with
Er,Cr:YSGG laser, while in the dentin groups, the occlusal enamel layer was removed and the exposed dentin surfaces
were irradiated with Er,Cr:YSGG laser. Then, the teeth in each group were randomly divided into six subgroups according
to the adhesive procedures; G1: C-Bond (SE mode), G2: C-Bond (EAR mode), G3: AmbarBond (SE mode), G4:
AmbarBond (EAR mode), G5: Clearfil SE Bond, G6: 3M SingleBond. After the application of the adhesives, composite
build-ups were prepared with a resin-based microhybrid composite. The specimens were cut into 1 x 1 mm (±0.2) sticks
and µTBS were performed. Fracture modes were determined under a stereomicroscope. Data were analyzed by one-way
ANOVA and Tukey HSD post hoc test also Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney U test (p<0.05).
In the enamel groups, the highest µTBS values were observed for G6 - 3M SingleBond (25.92 ± 5.43 MPa) and the lowest
for G1 - C-Bond (SE mode) (11.55 ± 2.52 MPa) (p<0.05). Also, in the dentin groups, G5 - Clearfil SE Bond showed the
highest bond strength values (30.67 ± 5.93 MPa), while G3 - C-Bond (EAR mode) had the lowest µTBS values (13.00 ±
3.55 MPa) (p<0.05).
If Er,Cr:YSGG laser is used for tooth preparation or surface treatment, the results of the current study suggest that reetching with acid phosphoric for enamel and self-etching mode for dentin are recommended.
