Abstract

A short review of ten recent studies using artificial intelligence (AI) for predicting axillary lymph node metastasis (ALNM), involving cohorts ranging from 52 to 1,144 patients, was conducted. Improved prediction performance was demonstrated through multimodal imaging approaches. Satisfactory results were obtained with deep learning (DL) architectures across various modalities. However, the evidence is limited to single-center data and retrospective designs. Before widespread use, multicenter validation, larger datasets, and generalizability tests should be conducted.
