INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS ON LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE, İzmir, Türkiye, 28 - 29 Kasım 2024, ss.537, (Özet Bildiri)
Passing on natural resources and a healthy environment to future generations has recently become an issue of great importance in all sectors. Issues such as the ongoing drought, climate change and loss of biodiversity are drawing attention to the importance of environmental management in all sectors. Nursery enterprises are organizations that produce and grow various plant materials and have land and greenhouse facilities. The nursery industry plays an important role in the production of healthy and highquality foods and the provision of materials for green areas. Plant production activities carried out in nurseries involve the use of resources such as soil, water, labor, and inputs such as fertilizer and pesticide in a limited area. The use of these resources in a limited area and time can have negative effects on the environment and employees. Nurseries have an impact on the environment. In terms of reducing and controlling this impact, it is important to measure or estimate the dimensions of the impact. Within the scope of the research conducted, recommendations were developed by examining the regulations related to this issue in our country and similar examples abroad. As a result, in Türkiye, the regulation on nurseries includes the examination of applications such as the dosages of chemicals used for seedlings, but it is noteworthy that there is no sanction for excessive doses. As in Australia and America, sanctions should be imposed on those who waste and pollute water in the nursery industry with the regulations to be prepared in Türkiye. Sustainability of nurseries should be ensured by using water and nutrients efficiently and controlling their movement both on-site and afterwards.
