Leisure constraints and the pursuit of adventure activities in Turkey

Özet

The present study examined the impact of constraints on individuals' involvement in adventure activities using the tripartite leisure constraints model developed by Crawford and Godby (1987). Two kinds of activities were investigated - mountain-cycling and white-water rafting - due to their growth potential in the adventure and leisure market. Results revealed: (a) support for the cross-cultural validity of the model via the confirmation of the study's predictions; and (b) differences in individual's perceived constraints to leisure between those who had previously participated in adventure activities and those who had never done so.
