Interculturality in English Language Learning and Teaching, Ece Zehir TOPKAYA,Bora DEMİR, Editör, Eğiten Kitap, Ankara, ss.65-83, 2021
During the last two decades, the popularity of the Common European
Framework of References (CEFR) has increased in foreign language education. As a text, the CEFR is a seminal document providing international
standards for teaching modern languages and assessing language proficiency all across Europe. Outside academia, there has been a considerable
worldwide effort to integrate the principles of the CEFR into national English language teaching curricula. The literature provides a plethora of academic studies whose focal points are mainly theoretical, instructional/
practical, or evaluative. Just as the CEFR has altered the national curricula
of various countries worldwide, its emphasis on interculturality has established a solid place in the instructional materials used by foreign language
instructors. Hence, this chapter aims to inform readers briefly about interculturality as it appears in the CEFR along with familiarizing them on how
to design language learning activities in relation to the document.
