Özet

The aim of this study is to locate and GIS modelling Oligocene Lignite in Malkara (Tekirdag) region.

The study area is located in the province of Tekirdag. Malkara and Hayrabolu districts are located at

the intersection of the borders. (These are city center of Tekirdag) Approximately 35 km west of

Tekirdag city center, approximately 18 km north-east of Malkara district and 28 km south of

Hayrabolu district. This area includes the region where the Oligocene aged lignite deposits are

located. Oligocene aged lignites are found in the Danismen Formation between gray - green

colored claystone, sandstone, conglomerate and tuff alternations. In this study GIS Modelling and

log correlations were made with 8 borings in the field where Malkara lignites is located. 24 different

units have been defined and these units have been correlated with each other. As a result of the

correlation, the continuity of a Lignite layer (Ceiling Lignite) at the top, a Lignite layer (Base Lignite)

at the bottom, and between these layers a Clayey Lignite layer consisting of both clay and lignite

were determined in both North-South and East-West lines. In the study, land modeling was

performed in 2 colors and multiple colors (Rainbow).
