In this study, our primary aim is to examine the studies related to determination of pathogenic viruses on Bombus bees through reverse transcriptase PCR (RT-PCR). Nowadays, when the economic importance and market share of commercially available Bombus colonies increase due to their extensive use in agriculture, companies are forced to develop entirely pathogen and parasite-free bee cultivation systems to prevent possible negative effects. Some of Bombus companies in abroad are periodically controlling the existence of pathogens and parasites during at different stages of cultivation by using molecular techniques which give rapid and correct results. Countries importing Bombus were used to requesting for documentation showing that the colonies are free for some dangerous and contiguous pathogens seen in honey bees only. However, recently rules to regulate the importing have become stricter.
