In this research, the morphological differences between Q and B biotypes of Bemisia tabaci (Gennadius, 1889) (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae) populations were studied using a Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). The morphological characters of the pupae (4(th) instar larvae) such as anterior submarginal setas 1-4 (ASMS), length of posterior submarginal seta 5 (PSMS), length and width of anterior marginal wax fringes (Aw) and posterior marginal wax fringes (extended beyond the caudal setas), size of dorsal setas, length of caudal setas and width of tracheal fold were examined. This study was carried out at the Entomology Laboratory of Faculty of Agriculture and the Electron Microscopy Unit of Faculty of Medical in Akdeniz University in the years 2005 and 2006. The three characters, anterior submarginal seta (ASMS4), anterior marginal wax fringes (Aw) and tracheal fold (TF) were found to be more informative than the other characters examined here in differentiating the populations of the two biotypes. Results of morphological studies indicated the presence of two groups among the populations studied. Soke, Nazilli, Aydin, Kampus and Ceyhan populations were included in the first (Q biotype) and Tarsus, Harbiye and Gazipasa populations in the second group (B biotype).
