Abstract

As the most significant basis of the rich oral literature of the Kazakh people, the Aytis genre is an essential source shedding light on the nomadic period of the Kazakh Turks. This quality of the Aytis, however, can only be appreciated through a very effective method of analysis. By using the Konisbay and Sinbolat Aytis as an example, this article attempts to prove that a research model based on Performance Theory can be applied effectively to the analysis of the Aytis genre.
