Abstract
Media take place in every part of our daily life. Therefore media professionals serve many important roles in our life. Media professionals just criticize their own institution more than any other professionals do. This is something positive in the name of eliminating existing problems. Contrary, when the methodology and the aim of the critics questioned, this situation turns out to be negative and as an institution, media is damaging.
The ideas and choices of Contemporary Turkish media professionals on the subject of media critics are so clear. Nevertheless, “What do the next generations of media professionals think on this subject?” is the problem of this study.
The aim of the study can be defined with these questions: How do the communication faculty students look at the criticism? What do they understand from critical thinking? Which critical thoughts do they have about the institution they will work for in the future? What are the factors that effect or determine their critical thinking? Existing situation of the infrastructure can be determined, according to the answers given to these questions just mentioned by the students of the Faculty of Communication. In the light of the results, necessary and sufficient level of measures can be taken. Therefore, this study is considered as important.
This paper is an empirical study examining critical thinking ability of students of communication. Survey is used as the data collecting technique. The survey is conducted on the most crowded communication faculties of Turkey. Namely, students of Anadolu, Ankara, İstanbul and Selçuk Universities take place in sample.
