This study researches the postgraduate theses on recreation written at Turkish universities and available in the electronic database of Turkish Council of Higher Education. The research has examined 25‐year period between 1985 and 2010 and found a total of 297 postgraduate theses. The theses on recreation have been categorized according to the dates, universities, institutes and departments in which they were prepared, the language, and subjects. As a results most of theses were prepared in Institute of Science (n=115 %38,7), second mostly in Institutes of Social Sciences (n=106 %35,7). Ninety nine theses (%33,3) were prepared in Sports Sciences, 67 (%22,6) in Landscape Architecture, 30 (%10,1) Education.
