Özet

Limestone came into existence due to co-precipitation of carbonate minerals from carbonate system solutions, along with skeletal materials and sediments (marine and detrital), mostly containing minute quantities of other elements such as Si, Na, Sr, Mg, K, Co, Mn, Cd etc. The concentration of any of these elements usually varies within limestone formation. In this study, the influence of surrounding igneous and metamorphic rocks on the Cr, Mn and Fe concentrations in a limestone formation were examine. Twenty limestone samples obtained from the Ortakoy village and surrounding in the Kumluca County of the Antalya province were analyzed for their Cr, Mn and Fe concentrations using XRF technique. A combination of geological studies, geochemical modeling and cluster analysis were applied to understand the variation of these elements content in the limestone formation. Correlative and anomalously distributed concentration of these elements in areas close of the limestone formation proximal to igneous and metamorphic rocks implied these rock types influenced the Cr-Mn-Fe concentration the elements in the limestone.
