In recent years the use of digital documentation methods in epigraphical studies has grad- ually increased. In particular, new methods are applied to assist in the transcription of inscriptions whose surface is eroded and difficult to read with the traditional methods of documentation. In this study, the contributions of digital imaging methods, Reflectance Transformation Imaging (RTI) and Structure from Motion (SfM) photogrammetry to the analysis of the votive inscriptions from the Sanctuary of Ares at Ekizce are discussed. As a result of the surveys carried out between 2017 and 2021, over 100 votive inscriptions were found in the Sanctuary of Ares at Ekizce, which is located within the territory of Phaselis. The votive inscriptions in the sanctuary, located in the highlands of Lycia (1350 m), are mostly carved in the local limestone. Since the surface of the inscriptions has been greatly worn due to the time-dependent natural conditions, it is difficult to make transcrip- tions employing traditional documentation methods. The study focuses on the digital documentation studies carried out in the field and transcription studies through the employment of different visual algorithms in the computer environment, based upon the RTI and SfM models of these inscriptions.
