Özet

This study aims to systematically interpret and synthesise data from qualitative research focusing on the sexual health experiences of women diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS). The study used a meta-synthesis approach, based on the methods outlined by Sandelowski and Barroso, to synthesise findings from qualitative research. A comprehensive literature search was conducted in several databases, including Medline, CINAHL, Complementary Index, Academic Search Ultimate, PubMed and Web of Science, covering research from different countries. Thematic synthesis was carried out using reflective thematic analysis to identify key themes. The meta-synthesis included nine qualitative studies focusing on women with MS. Four major themes emerged from the analysis: “Changes in sexuality and relationships after MS”, “Challenges in sexual life after MS”, “Lack of sexual support during the rehabilitation process”, and “Acceptance and adjustment to sexual issues”. These themes highlighted the multidimensional impact of MS on sexual health, including physical, psychological and social challenges. The results show that MS has a significant impact on women’s sexual health and relationships, leading to sexual dysfunction, emotional challenges and stigma. The lack of sexual health support during rehabilitation exacerbates these difficulties.
