Abstract

With advance in technology, 3D log correlation and modelling of minefields is done within the computer environment: It is very important in the explorative studies carriedout before mine escavation. This facilities access to some data such as calculating the reserve and detecting fault in coalfields. Thus, it has become possible to take precautions and determine the techniques to be used. The study area is located within the boundaries of Tekirdağ province and the area in which Tekirdağ (City Center-Süleymanpaşa), Malkara and Hayrabolu district borders intersect in the form of a triangular polygon. Oligocene aged lignites are found in the Danişmen Formation between gray - green colored claystone, sandstone, conglomerate and tuff alternations. In this study log correlations were done using 8 boreholes in a field where Tekirdağ - Malkara coal is located. Results of correlation indicates the continuity of the upper, middle and lower lignite layers consisting of clay and lignite formed in both the North-South and East-West line.
