Özet

In the present study, PvuII polymorphism in the promoter region CYP19 (cytochrome P450 aromatase) gene was investigated in some native Turkish cattle breeds. The study was carried out using PCR-RFLP in 151 animals including Eastern Anatolian Red, Turkish Grey and Turkish Holstein breeds. While 3 genotypes (AA, AG, GG) were determined in Turkish Grey, two genotypes (AA and AG) were determined in all other breeds. The A allele frequency (0.8229-0.9419) was detected at a considerably higher frequency than the G allele when all breeds were considered. The highest A allele frequency was determined to be 0.9419 in the Eastern Anatolian Red breed. All populations were found to be in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium for this locus.
