Abstract

Kumluca-Finike region is located in the southeast of Teke Peninsula which is between Antalya Bay and Fethiye Bay in the west Mediterrenean. Various rock units of Middle Triassic to Quaternary crop out in the region. Observed stratigraphic units in the study area are seperated into two groups; as allochthonous and autochthonous. Beydaglari Autochthonous limestones, which are the oldest rocks of the autochthonous rock units, are located in the base of the study area. Eocene units are deposited towards the upper levels and Miocene units on top of them. Quaternary aged actuel deposites are located at the top of the rock units. The study area is located in the near north of the Aegean Trench-Cyprus Arc. Because of the collision between African-Eurasian plates from during the geological times, the study area affectted by N-S compression. On the other hand, as a result of the west movement of the Anatolian block, the region introduced a E-W compression during the neotectonic period. And this situation has caused to development a complex stratigraphy and various tectonic structures in the region. Recognition and distribution of the different geological-stratigraphic units, reveal their relationships with each other examine the tectono-stratigraphic features by explaining the geological evolution by this study.
