Putrescine, spermidine and spermine are the major polyamines in plants and they are involved in various processes such as cell proliferation, growth, morphogenesis, and differentiation. Exogenous polyamine application is a convenient and effective approach for enhancing the stress tolerance of crops and eventually improving crop productivity. In this research, pomology (fruit weight, total soluble solids – TSS, pH), yield and biochemical characteristics (total phenol – TPC, total anthocyanin – TAC, antioxidant activity – EC50) of three different putrescine concentrations (0, 250, 500 ppm) applied to two strawberry cultivars (‘Festival’, ‘Osmanli’) that were under two different irrigation regimes (control 30% leaching fraction; deficit irrigation 15% leaching fraction) were investigated. Fruit weight, yield and TSS of plants under deficit irrigation were positively affected by putrescine application. In fact, the highest fruit weight was obtained from 250 ppm putrescine while the highest yield was determined from 500 ppm putrescine applied to two cultivars under deficit irrigation. In addition, the highest TAC under water deficit was recorded on 250 ppm putrescine treatment.
