Abstract

The presence of FecB allele on Booroola major gene (BMPR-IB) which has an significant effect on the prolificacy was investigated in six local sheep breeds reared in Turkey, by using PCR-RFLP method. As a result of these analysis. FecB allele couldn't be determined in totally 111 samples obtained from Akkaraman (19 samples), Morkaraman (19 samples), Daglic (18 samples), Ives' (18 samples), Tuj (18 samples) and Karakas (19 samples), which are the sheeps randomly selected from the flocks which are reared in different regions of Turkey.
