Özet

Culture consists of elements that nations have found or learned about different areas of life throughout their history. The cultural elements that share the same destiny as the people who reveal themselves are exposed to various changes over time, just like humans. Called culture change by field experts, these changes given that has emerged over time, it has been the subject of research not only the history but also sociology and folklore in terms of societies' change. The reason for this is undoubtedly the close relationship of cultural elements and the events around them with the destiny of nations and therefore of the world. People and societies consist of people have developed some materials in the form of items in order to facilitate their lives due to the necessities of daily life. These materials are considered as cultural elements due to their characteristics such as production forms, usage styles and functions, and their changes in the historical process are also discussed under the title of culture change. Cultural elements do not maintain their existence detachedly. Many of them are in a complicated but logical and compulsory relationship with one another that cannot be understood by a commonplace rational approach. This relationship system is so complex that it can be revealed through scientific disciplines, and revealing that it is about the future of the nations and therefore the world rather than the past. The events such as the climate conditions changing the folk calendar of shepherds and farmers according to geographical regions and determining the style of clothing are clear indications of this situation. In this study, the changes in the symbolic meaning of the motif of the earrings used in woven products, which are of great importance for Turkish civilization and cultural history, will be traced in the folk narratives and rites of passage and the reasons of this change will be evaluated in terms of the theories of cultural change and the related determinations will be made. While performing these evaluations and determinations, firstly information will be given about the concept of culture in the introduction and then the place of woven products in the concept of culture will be determined. Their unique knotting technique made the Turks stand out from other nations in the world in carpet weaving. In this study, the importance of carpet production in terms of Turkish and world history will be evaluated and the developments and changes during the transition of carpet production to artistic dimension which emerged as a need-based will be determined and revealed. The motifs at the center of the woven products are Symbolic elements. Symbols are the means of communication that emerge in the collective consciousness of nations and continue to exist within the collective consciousness. Due to these characteristics inferences will be made about the importance of the motifs used in woven products in terms of their relationship with the cultural and historical origins of nations and then the symbolic counterparts of the earring motif, which is one of the main elements of the study, will be evaluated within the historical process. During these evaluations, the change in the meanings that the earring motif is loaded symbolically and the determination of the factors affecting the change will also be carried out in detail within the context of cultural change theories. The effect of religious preferences on daily life will be presented to the attention of field researchers through this study.
