The aim of this meta-analysis is to assess the effects of PLISSIT-based sexual counselling on the sexual lives of women with breast cancer. The meta-analysis was conducted according to the Cochrane Handbook and the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analysis (PRISMA) guidelines. Ten electronic databases (Pub med, Complementary Index, MEDLINE, Academic Search Ultimate, CINAHL Complete, OpenAIRE, Directory of Open Access Journals, Supplemental Index, Science Direct) were searched to identify trials published up to October 2023. As a result of the screening, six studies were included in the analysis. Included articles were assessed for methodological quality using the Cochrane risk of bias tool (RoB 2 and RoB 1). Analyses were performed using Comprehensive Meta-Analysis (CMA) software version 3. The results show that PLISSIT-based sexual counselling significantly improves the sexual lives of breast cancer patients. This improvement was significant in both sexual life and sexual function, especially when compared to the control group who received routine care. It is important for breast cancer patients to start and continue their sexual life as close as possible to the pre-cancer period during their cancer treatment.
