AIM or PURPOSE: The aim of this study is to evaluate the dental findings in the primary and permanent teeth of Turkish and foreign children living in the western Mediterranean region of Turkiye. € MATERIALS and METHOD: A total of 144 foreign children with aged between 4-17 years, without any systemic diseases, who attended to Akdeniz University Department of pediatric dentistry, between 2016 and 2024 were included in the study. The other sample group consisting of 144 Turkish patients of similar age and gender was randomly selected. The intraoral dental findings (caries, infection, presence of restorations) of these patients were evaluated and recorded using digital orthopantomographs (OPGs). RESULTS: The average age of the Turkish patients was 9.1§ 3.24 years and foreign patients was 9.2§3.38. The number of Turkish patients who had no previous dental treatment and required a dental treatment was 84 (93.3%), while the number of foreign patients was 65 (69.1%). The number of Turkish patients who had previously received dental treatment and did not currently require further dental treatment was 9 (16.7%), while the number of foreign patients was 19 (38%). CONCLUSION(S): When the dental conditions of foreign patients and Turkish patients living in Turkiye were com- € pared radiologically, it was found that Turkish patients had a higher need for dental treatment than foreign patients. It has been observed that there is a need for increased education regarding oral hygiene motivation. However, due to the low number of subjects, further studies are needed on this topic. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.identj.2024.07.025
