The financial industry, particularly banking, has witnessed a transformation in business practices and employee expectations due to globalization and increased competition. This situation may create work-related depression, which has some adverse effects on life satisfaction and well-being. The relationship between depression and life satisfaction in healthy individuals and bank employees has not been extensively studied, with limited research on conditional factors (e.g., bank type). The kind of bank and psychological capital (PsyCap) might affect the relationship between depression and life satisfaction. The study investigated the moderating effect of bank types (state and private) and PsyCap on the relationship between work-related depression and life satisfaction. Data were collected from 281 bank employees in private and public-owned banks. Results showed that depression and life satisfaction were negatively related. Multigroup confirmatory factor analyses showed that this negative relationship was slightly higher for state-owned bank employees than private ones. PsyCap diminished the negative effect of depression on life satisfaction.
