Özet
Climate change and the
deterioration of natural environments cause the frequency of natural disasters
and an increase in damages in Turkey as well as around the world. There are two
systems in particular for the protection of society from natural disaster
damage. First, the state compensates the damage with the taxes of society and
holds the whole citizenry fully responsible for the damage/span>. In the
second system, the state does not guarantee the reconstruction of buildings
other than first aid, search, and rescue in natural disasters.
Generally, insurance against natural disasters,
which occur frequently, is compulsory for some and optional for others. In the
case of insurance obligations, there is a large subsidy from the state. After
the earthquake disaster that affected Kahramanmaraş and 10 provinces on
February 6, 2023, compulsory earthquake insurance and optional earthquake
insurance applications were evaluated in terms of insurance law, general
conditions, damage, and suggestions
