Özet

The purpose of this study is to detect the correlation between parents' eHealth literacy and children's problematic media usage. This descriptive cross-sectional study was executed with the parents of 172 students from three kindergartens in a district situated in the Mediterranean Region of Türkiye. Research data were collected using the "Introductory Information Form", "eHealth Literacy Scale" and "Problematic Media Use Measure-Short Form". The average age of the children was 5.40±0.64 years. A significant difference was revealed between the parents' eHealth literacy scale average scores by the their education level and the visual media tool their children use most frequently (p<0.01). A significant difference was revealed between the children's problematic media use measure-short form average scores by their visual media tool use most frequently (p<0.001). Parents' eHealth literacy scale average scores showed significantly no link to children's problematic media use measure-short form average scores (p>0.05). Parents' e-health literacy levels are affected by their education levels and the visual media tools their children use most frequently. It is also seen that children's problematic media usage levels are affected by the visual media tools they use most frequently. However, parental eHealth literacy levels wasn't significantly linked to children's problematic media usage levels.
