Approaching the development of sociology in Turkey only from the view point of changes in sociology is preventing to see the whole issue. Therefore, the main object in this article is to frame the effects of intellectual life and political developments which are some of the main determinants of sociology and sociological thinking both in Turkey and the world, while addressing simultaneously methodological changes. In this context, a periodization that is made by including the methodological main characteristics and discrepancies of Turkish sociology in this manner, forms the main characteristic of this study.
