Abstract

Every country has been spending some effort to conserve biological diversity and plant genetic resources. Genetic erosion is still continuing at an accelerated rate. For several decades, concern over the loss of crop genetic diversity has grown, especially where a few genetically uniform, high-yielding varieties have replaced generically variable crop landraces, a process known as crop genetic erosion.
